About the Speaker
Scarlett Lewis is the founder of the nonprofit Choose Love Movement, created in honor of her six-year-old son, Jesse, who was tragically killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012. In the days that followed, Scarlett discovered a message Jesse had written on the family’s chalkboard: “Nurturing, Healing, Love.” Though simple, those three words are part of the definition of compassion across all cultures and became the foundation of a powerful formula—courage + gratitude + forgiveness +compassion-in-action—which launched a movement now reaching millions around the world.
The Choose Love Movement offers free, comprehensive programs for schools, homes, and communities, teaching essential life skills such as emotional regulation, resilience, and connection. Scarlett is the author of Nurturing Healing Love and From Sandy Hook to the World, and other titles for kids. She has shared her story on international stages and in major media outlets. An award-winning Forbes 50 Over 50 honoree, Scarlett is a passionate advocate for creating safer, more loving communities—one thoughtful choice at a time.
